Iceland is a country located in the North Atlantic Ocean between Greenland and the UK. The country has been inhabited since ca. 874 and today has some 320,000 inhabitants. The capital and biggest city is Reykjavik. Iceland is also the second biggest island in Europe. Iceland has a lot of volcanic and geo-thermal activity and the interior mainly consists of a plateau characterised by sand fields, mountains and glaciers.
