Explanation
Honchu is the largest island of Japan, covering an area of 230,500 km². The cities Tokyo, Yokohama, Kyoto, Kobe, Hiroshima and Nagano all lie here. The majority of the Japanese population lives on Honchu, which is the world's 7th largest island, but the second most populated, after Java. The highest point is Mount Fuji, which rises 3,776 metres.
