Anders Celsius was born in Uppsala, Sweden in 1701. He was a Swedish scientist and astronomer. He is most famous for proposing the Celsius temperature scale, which is named after him. His thermometer was calibrated with a value of 0° for the boiling point of water and 100° for the freezing point. Later, after his death, it was reversed so that the freezing point is 0 degrees and the boiling point is 100.
