What does it mean to be a transvestite?

A transvestite is a person who likes wearing clothing traditionally associated with the opposite sex. A transvestite is not necessarily trans-sexual or homosexual. Typically only men are called transvestites as the margins for what women can wear are much wider. We don't know why some people become cross-dressers.
