Who wrote the original novel behind "Alice in Wonderland"?

Explanation

Lewis Caroll's 1851 novel "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" has inspired countless movies and computer games. Tim Burton's 3D-version is a recent spin-off of the fairy tale, and older ones include the edition from 1971 featuring Peter Sellers, among others. Disney has also used the story in a 1951 cartoon movie, which was the 13th classic Disney movie. Several movies allude to the story, including the Matrix, which had multiple references to the metaphor "down the rabbit hole."
