Where in the world does the Gulf Stream originate?

Explanation

The Gulf Steam is a warm ocean current which passes water from the Mexican Gulf through the Straits of Florida into the Atlantic Ocean. The Gulf Stream follows the American east coast and then turns east, in the direction of Northern Europe.
